Our business process model is in swim lane format which is a graphical arrangement in which all of the activities for a given role are shown in a single lane (Kroenke, 2015). The lanes categorize the four crucial roles in order to execute a customer order at Phelps Nursery, North from start to finish. The purpose of this process is to ensure that the customer will be satisfied with the completed job. This process is important strategically for the organization since it set ups for smooth communication between the customer and the company.
Customer: In order for the business process to begin a customer may have the intent to create or update a landscape design at their home or business. Generally the customer will seek out Phelps Nursery, North based off of reputation in the region. If the customer’s job does not qualify for services at the business the customer will be referred to another company more suitable for their request. Also, if the customer’s job does qualify for the services the customers has the option to either accept, reject or negotiate the bid price.
Manager: This role works as the main facilitator between the client the business. The manager will make the decision if the customer’s job will qualify for their services, will create and give the customer the bid amount for the job, will schedule installation based on availability of labor crew and the customer, will collect payment as well as manage any issues that the customer has after job has been completed.
Labor Crew: This role is the skill of the process. These staff members are highly skilled professionals that are able to properly execute the landscaping design based off of blueprints given by the manager. The labor crew needs to work efficiently with the appropriate tools for each job.
Accounts Receivable: This role is primarily focused on managing the daily revenue of all sales and services. The accounts receivable is responsible for deposits, invoices, and accurate ledgers for all accounts to stay current and active.
